Principles of Public Speaking - PLS 1010
This class addresses the elements of influential public speaking and taught me many useful tools and techniques to become an effective speaker.
Reflection
I began this class with great trepidation. I have always found the idea of public speaking to be terrifying. I remember the first class of the semester where Keith Radley taught us to give ourselves permission to be good at public speaking. This was an idea I had never entertained before, and it proved to be a pivotal moment in my life. That night I gave myself that permission. This class has given me the tools to manage my speech anxiety. It has taught me the skills to let myself succeed at speaking in public. Below is a Powerpoint presentation given as part of the last persuasive speech of the semester. This speech was given as part of a hypothetical client development and marketing training series created for attorneys and business leaders.
